Steeler Bars Stats
Steeler Nation is a phenomenon that no other team in any sport can claim. A Steeler fan can find Steeler Bar in almost every major city across the globe. Steeler fans are dedicated and loyal and go to great lengths to find a place to watch the game.
The widespread fan base is due in large part to the diaspora from Pittsburgh in the 1970's and 80's. The people that moved from Pittsburgh went looking for jobs but they took with them their pride in Pittsburgh and their Steelers. Some of these people opened bars, hung up their Terrible Towels, and soon other ex-pats from the 'Burgh were gathering to watch the game. Ironically, the Steelers' global presence is due in large part to the decline of the Steel industry that gave them their name. But the values and traditions of the city, the steel workers, and the team have carried on.
In addition to the 726 Steeler Bars on our list there are new groups popping up that are reaching out to Pittsburgh's expatriate community, such as the Pittsburgh Expat Network. These groups are looking to connect ex-pat's in a way that could help promote the city remotely. If you love the city as much as the Steelers, check out their sites and get involved.
